ISSUES

Some of the issues that have been highlighted are: -

  • inadequate Public Transport for people to get to work

  • access to local training needed in the parish

  • set up a Volunteer Centre

  • inadequate play provision and activities for the youth

WHAT YOU SAID

Crime has been highlighted as a major concern in some areas of the parish and suggestions to remedy this include CCTV, Neighbourhood Watch, improved lighting and security lights and increased police foot patrol.  However, the top issue in Community facilities was a request for improved childcare facilities within the parish. There have also been requests for improved access to: -

  • local shops/supermarkets

  • post boxes

  • community  centres

Other suggestions include increased provision of more diverse housing including Starter Homes and Flats for young people, sheltered accommodation and bungalows for older people within the parish.

PARTICIPATION

Recorded participation was 221 of which 105 were male and 116 were female giving almost equal gender participation.  A total of 837 individual suggestions were made.  It is considered that the participation was much greater since all participants were not recorded at each of the events.

Lack of leisure facilities was a major concern in Overdale whilst lack of community facilities such as doctors, schools and dentists were highlighted at The Rock.  The main issues highlighted at Lawley were land use and new "build" and traffic related issues.  Leisure facilities for the youth is also of concern.
